Matias Riccitelli Wines is located in the traditional area of Luján de Cuyo, which is considered to be part of the North Zone of wines from Argentina, within the large region of Mendoza, lying approximately 25kms south of this gastro-oenophile city.

The winery was founded in 2009, when Riccitelli decided that it was time to bring together his combined knowledge from working several vintages abroad with his experience overseeing one of Mendoza’s highly regarded French family owned operations, setting himself to passionately accomplish his own project.

Matias was born into winemaking, with his father Jorge Riccitelli holding the position of Chief winemaker at one of Mendoza’s oldest and renowned wineries, hence the label ‘The Apple doesn’t Fall Far from the Tree’, which is a tier amongst their wines that produces a Malbec comprised of equal parts from both Luján de Cuyo and the Uco Valley.

Malbec is definitely the star for this producer, as they endeavor to explore the variety in every possible way, by using a combination of concrete vats and barrels/foudre of all ages. In addition, their fruit is sourced from several different vineyard sites, including stepping outside of the North Zone to the higher altitude Zone of the Uco Valley, southwest of their facility location.

The labels are modern, quirky and fun, representing concepts that the Riccitelli team have created to deliver great wines with their contemporary yet traditional styles.

Matias Riccitelli is a true champion of the Argentine wine industry and we are very proud to represent this remarkable producer in Australia!
